Urban planning services were provided as part of the Ai+Architecture project team’s entry into the Meizhou Urban Design Competitions. The Competitions were sponsored by the mayor of Meizhou, a prefecture-level city of eastern Guangdong Province of China, and focused on two project areas: one in the urban center of Fengshun County and another in Yanyang, a town in Mei County. The Meizhou municipality embodies a rich Hakka cultural heritage. Based on an appreciation for the cultural heritage of the past, an understanding of a modern China of the present and a realization of their intertwined coexistence into the future, the Ai+Architecture project team came in first place for Yanyang and third place for Fengshun.
